2017 Menu Contest
In an effort to promote efficient water use throughout the community, RCWD began a menu contest for middle and high school students. Students design a children’s menu that includes activities about how much water it takes to grow food, where RCWD’s water comes from, and the importance of water use efficiency. 2017 Write Off Contest Theme:
Indirect Potable Reuse
- This is a class-based project for grades 6-12 that requires teacher facilitation.
- Students will author and illustrate a story about Indirect Potable Reuse intended for grades 3-5.
- Students will research and present a message that includes the following information:
- Information about what Indirect Potable Reuse is and how it positively affects the community.
- Information about the Indirect Potable Reuse process.
- The importance of Indirect Potable Reuse for extending our water supply.
- Students may review information about Indirect Potable Reuse by clicking the following link: Indirect Potable Reuse
- Story must be 500-1000 words.
- Story must be written at 3-5 level.
- Story must be illustrated (students encouraged to work in teams).
- For book design and publishing purposes, artwork and story text must be submitted on SEPARATE 8.5” x 11” pages.
- No trademarked or copyrighted artwork or materials will be accepted.
- Story and illustrations become the property of Rancho California Water District; however, winning students and teachers will receive author, illustrator, and facilitator credits for book.
